Reseeda ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application and related services (the "Service").

By using Reseeda, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a bcrypt hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Garden Data: Information you voluntarily enter about your seeds, gardens, plantings, watering logs, and garden plans. This data is yours and is used solely to provide the Service.

Location Data: If you provide a postal/ZIP code or growing zone, we use this to show relevant weather, pest alerts, and planting calendars. We do not track your real-time GPS location.

Photos: If you use the AI seed scanner or plant doctor, photos are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for analysis. Photos are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers after analysis.

Usage Data: We collect basic usage information such as pages visited, features used, and session duration to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Personalize your experience (weather, pest alerts, planting calendars for your zone)
  • Power AI features (seed scanning, garden coach, plant doctor, layout planning)
  • Send push notifications you've opted into (watering reminders, pest alerts, harvest notifications)
  • Calculate gamification features (XP, levels, streaks, leaderboards)
  • Improve and develop new features

Your data is stored on secured servers hosted in Canada. We use industry-standard security measures including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Bcrypt hashing for passwords (we never store plain text passwords)
  • JWT tokens for session authentication (no server-side sessions)
  • Database access restricted to application-level credentials

6. Community and Privacy Features

Reseeda includes community features (leaderboards, activity feeds, pest reporting). You can control your visibility:

  • Community Private mode: Hides your real name and shows your chosen alias
  • Show on Leaderboard: Toggle to opt out of public leaderboards
  • Pest Reports: Location data in pest reports is rounded to approximately 100m accuracy and never shows your exact address

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@reseeda.com.

AI chat history is retained for 30 days to provide conversation context, then automatically deleted.

8. Children's Privacy

Reseeda is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your garden data
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

Reseeda uses browser localStorage to store your authentication token and user preferences. We do not use tracking cookies. No third-party advertising or analytics cookies are used.
